Albert J. Caperna, Chairman of CMC Group
Al Caperna made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1974 on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Al does not believe faith in Jesus should be restricted to Sunday. This belief, coupled with a management style that helps encourage strong business ethics, innovation, achievement and selective risk taking, has helped Al achieve success in starting and developing businesses.
After starting his own business in 1980, he now has five businesses with over 300 employees and has been recognized nationally as a business leader. Al is the Chairman of CMC Group, an association of companies that has been selling to retail and industrial customers in the U.S. and Internationally for over 30 years. However, Al’s main goal is not just to be a success in business; it is “to embody the Christian life in business practices”. He credits his success to God, his employees, and faithful customers.
Happily married for over 40 years, Al and Kathy have three married daughters and five grandchildren.
Craig Dixon, CEO of CMC Group
Craig Dixon is the CEO of CMC Group, Inc. Craig began his career with CMC Group, Inc. in 1990 as the Operations Manager for Century Marketing. He was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1991 and President in 1994.
Mr. Dixon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in Business from Bowling Green State University. Prior to his service at CMC Group, Mr. Dixon worked for Marathon Oil in Findlay, Ohio for 14 years. He held various Computer Service related management positions and worked with smaller subsidiary companies.
Mr. Dixon is an active community member. He has served as deacon of a local church and President of the Bowling Green Chamber Commerce. Craig is also heavily involved in Bowling Green Christian Academy and Young Life in Wood County. Craig’s outside interests include running and youth ministry. A former cross country coach for Bowling Green Christian Academy, Craig has run many marathons including the 100th Anniversary Boston Marathon held in 1996.
Craig and his wife Libby have two married sons, Jeremy and Jeffrey, and a married daughter named Kelly and five grandchildren.
Jeff Palmer, President of CMC Group
Jeff Palmer is the President of CMC Group, Inc. and the President of DayMark Safety Systems. He has worked for DayMark and Century Marketing for over 23 years. Prior to becoming President of DayMark in 2006, Mr. Palmer also served as Maintenance Manager of Century Marketing, Production Manager of Century Marketing and DayMark, Division Manager of CenTek International, Division Manager of DayMark, and Vice President and General Manager of DayMark.
Trained initially in engineering and maintenance, Mr. Palmer began his career with CMC Group in 1988 as Maintenance Manager of Century Marketing. Mr. Palmer established a preventative maintenance program and engineered and managed the construction of two new buildings as Maintenance Manager. In 1992, after much success as Maintenance Manager, Mr. Palmer became Production Manager for both DayMark and Century Marketing. He gained experience building Century Marketing’s International Division and was responsible for its distribution network in Latin America.
When DayMark’s products began to take hold in the market, Mr. Palmer was charged with refocusing the company’s growth and profitability. He became General Manager of DayMark in 1999, a company of 140 employees that has experienced 900% growth under his leadership. Much of this success was due to the introduction of the Dissolve-A-Way® label technology. As an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2002, Mr. Palmer and his team continue to develop new innovative products that separate DayMark from their aggressive competition in the foodservice industry.
Mr. Palmer is a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology and a member of the International Food Service Manufacturing Association. He maintains however that his greatest accomplishment is his family. Mr. Palmer and his wife have two daughters. They live in Bowling Green, Ohio, where they raise horses and are actively involved in their church.
Jeff Gayer, Executive VP of Product Development & Marketing at CMC Group
Jeff Gayer is the Executive Vice President of Product Development and Marketing at CMC Group. Jeff joined the company in his current role in August 2016. Previously, he held similar roles in strategic marketing and product development for a number of companies in the janitorial/sanitary supply industry, of which he is a 25-plus-year veteran.
A graduate of Wright State University, Jeff has been awarded several patents and completed numerous certifications and educational programs. In the past, he has acted as an adjunct professor of industrial engineering at his alma mater.
Jeff is a devoted husband to his wife Denise and proud father of daughter Abby and son Luke. He is also active at McCord Road Christian Church as an elder and staff coach.
Todd R. Frendt, VP and General Manager of Century Label
Todd R. Frendt is the Vice President and General Manager of Century Label. Todd joined the company in his current role September 2018. For the past 30 years he has held executive management positions for a number of companies in the janitorial/sanitation industry. Todd started his full time career working for his family business, Hammons Products, while attending the University of Toledo in the school of business with studies focused in operations management. He then pursued additional education in management of organizational development at Spring Arbor College.
Todd is an active member of CedarCreek Church, where he has been a member since 1999 and is involved in a variety of ministries and men’s group. Todd is also a founding member of the Anthony Wayne Youth Foundation and served as board president for 10 years. He is truly committed to serving the youth and volunteering where needed as evidenced by his leadership roles in BSA Troop 97, and previous board member roles of the Anthony Wayne YMCA, Anthony Wayne United, Anthony Wayne Youth Soccer, AWAKE and the World Congress of Amateur Athletes. Todd is an honorary member of the Anthony Wayne Alumni Hall of Fame, for his active community leadership and volunteer roles, he is a two time YMCA of Greater Toledo Volunteer of the Year and was nominated twice for the Generals Heroes volunteer for community service. He is also a recipient of The Mirror Newspaper/Buckeye Cablevision Volunteer of the Year Award.
Todd is the proud father of daughter Taylor and son Tyler and enjoys spending time with them at church, volunteering, family outings, traveling, sporting events, outdoor activities or simply hanging at home.
Ken Hermes, CFO of CMC Group
Ken Hermes is the Chief Financial Officer of CMC Group, Inc. Mr. Hermes began his career at CMC Group in 2013 as Corporate Controller, and was promoted to Executive Director of Finance later that year. In addition to being a Certified Management Accountant, Mr. Hermes has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toledo and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University. Prior to coming to CMC Group, Mr. Hermes worked for more than 20 years with two other Ohio public manufacturing companies. Throughout his career, he has been a key management team member as an analyst, manager, controller, and division controller. Mr. Hermes has managed all areas of accounting and control and specializes in cost-reduction opportunities and process improvement.
A member and active volunteer at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, OH, Mr. Hermes is a former treasurer as well as a former councilman for the city of Rossford. He is an active mentor in SCORE, which is an organization that fosters vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. He is also a member of the Financial Executives International organization and serves on the Wood County Airport Authority Board. Mr. Hermes is husband to Marge and dad to Will, Karl, and Kathleen. The Hermes household is a die-hard University of Toledo family—Go Rockets!
Tammy Corral, PHR, Vice President of Human Resources & Public Relations
Tammy Corral, PHR is a Vice President of CMC Group, Inc. and is currently responsible for Human Resources and Public Relations. Tammy began working for CMC Group in 1989 and was involved in the development of their Human Resources department. She was promoted to a variety of jobs within HR, from Manager to Director, and was ultimately named a Vice President of the company in 2003. She has over 20 years of experience in the HR profession. Her former work experience was for a payroll service company.
Under Tammy’s leadership, the CMC Group HR department was the recipient of the 2010 HR Management Excellence Award presented through the University of Toledo. Tammy was also a finalist for the 2002 HR Management Excellence Award. She has presented at the NW Ohio HR Conference (THRAC), the American Society for Training and Development, and also at some local organizations and companies. She is a graduate of Davis College and also attended the University of Toledo. Tammy has been an active member of SHRM since 1995 and has held an active PHR certification since 1996.
Tammy enjoys donating her time to many causes and has served as President of TAHRA, Chair for Adopt America Network, Chair for the Wood County Workforce Policy Board, and President of Management Forum. She has previously served on the boards of the American Cancer Society and Community Employment Resources for Woodlane. Tammy has also been involved with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Leadership BG, Toledo Human Resources Area Conference (THRAC), and the YWCA.
Bill Curtis, Vice President of Sales for DayMark Safety Systems
Bill Curtis is the Vice President of Sales for DayMark Safety Systems. He has over 20 years of experience in food service sales, ranging from restaurant management and food sales to equipment and non-food/disposable item sales. After starting with CMC Group in November 2004 as the Midwest Regional Sales Manager, Bill moved on to the position of National Sales Manager in 2008. He became Executive Director of Sales in 2013 before settling into his current position in January 2016.
Bill is married with three sons, all three of whom are multi-sport athletes. He currently resides in Holly, MI and is a huge fan of the Michigan State Spartans.
Pantulu Avasarala, Vice President of Technology for CMC Group
Pantulu Avasarala is the Vice President of Technology for CMC Group. Pantulu has over 23 years of experience in IT, including stints at GE and Cincom Systems before joining CMC and is a strong believer in the “lead by example” leadership style. A change agent, Pantulu has earned a reputation for his balanced judgment, stability, and capacity to successfully steer projects through highly matrixed organizations.
Pantulu joined the company as Executive Director of IT in August 2014. He holds master’s degrees in both computer science and mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Pantulu is a devoted husband to his wife Sudha, and proud father of daughter Aparna and son Vardhan. He currently resides in Mason, Ohio and is a very active member at Sri SaiBaba Temple of Greater Cincinnati in Mason.
Victor Ten Brink, Corporate Counsel
Victor N. Ten Brink attended law school at the University of Michigan and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Bowling Green State University. He has practiced law in Bowling Green since 1983 and has concentrated his practice in the areas of business law and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Ten Brink is a founding partner in the firm of Twyman, Ten Brink, Harms & Sharp in Bowling Green, Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Wood County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in Ohio courts, the U.S. District Court, the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Claims Court.
Mr. Ten Brink represents businesses in areas of acquisitions, contracts, and other complex transactions. Mr. Ten Brink also represents numerous non-profit organizations throughout Ohio and the Midwest and has been active in and served on the board of directors of many charitable organizations. He is the Editor and Publisher of Ohio Church Law Report, a legal newsletter, he has written extensively on nonprofit law issues, and he has conducted Continuing Legal Education seminars in the area of nonprofit organizations.
Mr. Ten Brink resides with his wife Michelle and two sons Victor and Eric in Bowling Green, Ohio.
