Albert J. Caperna, Chairman of CMC Group, Inc.Al Caperna

Albert J. Caperna is the Chairman of CMC Group Inc., an association of companies that has been selling to retail and industrial customers both domestically and internationally for over 30 years.

In 1980, Mr. Caperna acquired part ownership of Century Marketing, a label and tag company that had been operating for six months. Mr. Caperna became full owner in 1985 and led Century Marketing into two-time recognition on the Inc. 500 Honor Roll. In 1990, Century Marketing purchased its largest industry competitor, doubling the size of the company. Century has experienced tremendous growth under the leadership of Mr. Caperna and his team and now holds a prominent position among the 500 largest printers in the United States.

Named 1995 Master Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst, Young & Merrill, Mr. Caperna has been active in the creation of new divisions within Century which have since developed into separate business units. DayMark has established itself as a leader in food safety labeling systems, specializing in products that assist food service establishments in meeting FDA and other compliance codes. Mr. Caperna also created NovaVision, a company that utilizes a patented process to manufacture holograms for product authentication and counterfeit prevention. In 2008, NovaVision was honored by the Inc. 500 list as one of the fastest growing small companies in the United States.

Mr. Caperna was also a leader in forming the Consumer Products Manufacturers Association. The CPMA is an association of four of the largest consumer manufacturers in the world joining their efforts to assist in developing a world standard for product authentication, electronic surveillance, and radio frequency identification (RFID).

Mr. Caperna’s business philosophy incorporates high integrity with customers and employees. This philosophy, coupled with a management style that encourages innovation, achievement, and selective risk-taking, has helped CMC Group, Inc. succeed. In these current economic times CMC Group has continued to show its entrepreneurial roots, acquiring two businesses and starting a business in early 2009. However, Al’s main goal is not just to be a success in business; it is to embody the Christian life in business practices. Out of this goal birthed the vision for Affirm Global Development which exists to empower entrepreneurs globally in setting up businesses and helping to end economic poverty. He credits his success to God, his employees, and faithful customers.

In 1974, on the campus of Bowling Green State University, Mr. Caperna made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He has held leadership roles as Elder in his church, helped start a Christian school, and currently serves as President for New Hope Christian Foundation. Additionally, Mr. Caperna is a member of the call2all Executive Team, where he is serving to bring awareness to the role business has in the completion of the Great Commission. Happily married for 34 years, Al and his wife Kathy have three married daughters and two granddaughters. 



Craig Dixon, CEO of CMC Group, Inc.Craig Dixon

Craig Dixon is the CEO of CMC Group, Inc. Craig began his career with CMC Group, Inc. in 1990 as the Operations Manager for Century Marketing. He was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1991 and President in 1994.

Mr. Dixon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in Business from Bowling Green State University. Prior to his service at CMC Group, Mr. Dixon worked for Marathon Oil in Findlay, Ohio for 14 years. He held various Computer Service related management positions and worked with smaller subsidiary companies.

Mr. Dixon is an active community member. He has served as deacon of a local church and President of the Bowling Green Chamber Commerce. Craig is also heavily involved in Bowling Green Christian Academy and Young Life in Wood County.

Craig’s outside interests include running and youth ministry. A former cross country coach for Bowling Green Christian Academy, Craig has run many marathons including the 100th Anniversary Boston Marathon held in 1996.

Craig has been married to his wife Libby for 32 years. They have two married sons, Jeremy and Jeffrey, and a married daughter named Kelly.



Jeff Palmer, President of CMC Group, Inc.Jeff Palmer

Jeff Palmer is the President of CMC Group, Inc. and the President of DayMark Safety Systems. He has worked for DayMark and Century Marketing for over 23 years. Prior to becoming President of DayMark in 2006, Mr. Palmer also served as Maintenance Manager of Century Marketing, Production Manager of Century Marketing and DayMark, Division Manager of CenTek International, Division Manager of DayMark, and Vice President and General Manager of DayMark.

Trained initially in engineering and maintenance, Mr. Palmer began his career with CMC Group in 1988 as Maintenance Manager of Century Marketing. Mr. Palmer established a preventative maintenance program and engineered and managed the construction of two new buildings as Maintenance Manager. In 1992, after much success as Maintenance Manager, Mr. Palmer became Production Manager for both DayMark and Century Marketing. He gained experience building Century Marketing’s International Division and was responsible for its distribution network in Latin America.

When DayMark’s products began to take hold in the market, Mr. Palmer was charged with refocusing the company’s growth and profitability. He became General Manager of DayMark in 1999, a company of 140 employees that has experienced 900% growth under his leadership. Much of this success was due to the introduction of the Dissolve-A-Way® label technology. As an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2002, Mr. Palmer and his team continue to develop new innovative products that separate DayMark from their aggressive competition in the foodservice industry.

Mr. Palmer is a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology and a member of the International Food Service Manufacturing Association. He maintains however that his greatest accomplishment is his family. Mr. Palmer and his wife have two daughters. They live in Bowling Green, Ohio, where they raise horses and are actively involved in their church.



Bob Copple, CFO & Interim COOBob Copple

Bob Copple is the Chief Financial Officer and the interim Chief Operating Officer of CMC Group, Inc. Bob began his career at CMC Group in 2004 as Controller for DayMark Safety Systems and held a number of positions prior to his appointment as CFO in 2008.

Mr. Copple has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University.  Prior to coming to CMC Group, he worked in public accounting and manufacturing. Throughout his career, he has been a key management team member (Controller, Treasurer, CFO, COO) in a variety of manufacturing organizations ranging from start up operations to Fortune 500 companies. He has been involved with and has developed strategic plans for many of these companies and brings a wealth of knowledge regarding systems, processes, and procedures. 

Mr. Copple is a member of Archbold United Methodist Church and has held numerous board and officer positions in both religious and civic organizations. Mr. Copple’s other interests include golf, bowling, and cheering for Notre Dame. Bob and his wife Chris have been married for 35 years and live in Archbold, Ohio. They have two married daughters, Erin and Amy.



Tammy Corral, PHRTammy Corral, Vice President of Human Resources & Public Relations

Tammy Corral, PHR is a Vice President of CMC Group, Inc. and is currently responsible for Human Resources and Public Relations. Tammy began working for CMC Group in 1989 and was involved in the development of their Human Resources department. She was promoted to a variety of jobs within HR, from Manager to Director, and was ultimately named a Vice President of the company in 2003. She has over 20 years of experience in the HR profession. Her former work experience was for a payroll service company.

Under Tammy’s leadership, the CMC Group HR department was the recipient of the 2010 HR Management Excellence Award presented through the University of Toledo. Tammy was also a finalist for the 2002 HR Management Excellence Award. She has presented at the NW Ohio HR Conference (THRAC), the American Society for Training and Development, and also at some local organizations and companies. She is a graduate of Davis College and also attended the University of Toledo. Tammy has been an active member of SHRM since 1995 and has held an active PHR certification since 1996.

Tammy enjoys donating her time to many causes and has served as President of TAHRA, Chair for Adopt America Network, Chair for the Wood County Workforce Policy Board, and President of Management Forum. She has previously served on the boards of the American Cancer Society and Community Employment Resources for Woodlane. Tammy has also been involved with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Leadership BG, Toledo Human Resources Area Conference (THRAC), and the YWCA.


Scott Heim, Vice President of Sales & MarketingScott Heim

Scott Heim is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. During his tenure, Scott has been a driver for DayMark’s sales growth while leading key initiatives that have resulted in global acquisitions and
strategic partnerships. Transforming the sales and marketing teams, Scott has delivered a customer centric selling model maximizing relationships through the customer point of impact. This evolution of the sales team is driving new business growth within all vertical segments in the food service and the relevant retail marketplaces.

As a previous board member for the Wood County American Red Cross Greater Toledo Area Chapter, Scott is very involved in working with the organization to make a difference in the lives of people in the community.

Prior to joining DayMark, Scott was the Director of Distributor Development for The Stanley Works Mac Tools Division, delivering $300 million in sales while developing incentive programs and recruiting business operators for the U.S. and U.K. markets. He has also held various leadership positions including National Sales Manager for The El Paso Chile Company, Midwest Regional Manager for Twinings Teas of London, and Chain Account Manager for E & J Gallo Winery.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. He is a resident of Maumee, Ohio, where he and his wife raise their two children.

 
Victor Ten Brink, Corporate CounselVictor Ten Brink

Victor N. Ten Brink attended law school at the University of Michigan and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Bowling Green State University. 

He has practiced law in Bowling Green since 1983 and has concentrated his practice in the areas of business law and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Ten Brink is a founding partner in the firm of Twyman, Ten Brink, Harms & Sharp in Bowling Green, Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Wood County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in Ohio courts, the U.S. District Court, the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Claims Court.

Mr. Ten Brink represents businesses in areas of acquisitions, contracts, and other complex transactions. Mr. Ten Brink also represents numerous non-profit organizations throughout Ohio and the Midwest and has been active in and served on the board of directors of many charitable organizations. He is the Editor and Publisher of Ohio Church Law Report, a legal newsletter, he has written extensively on nonprofit law issues, and he has conducted Continuing Legal Education seminars in the area of nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Ten Brink resides with his wife Michelle and two sons Victor and Eric in Bowling Green, Ohio.
